Sabine Fehlandt

Viola

Born into a musical family in Waren, Germany, Sabine Fehlandt started playing violin at the age of seven but soon changed over to the viola when she began to play quartet music. Between 1980 and 1985 she studied viola at the Academy of Music in Berlin and was subsequently engaged with the Symphony Orchestra in East Berlin (currently the Konzerthaus Orchester Berlin).

Next to her work as an orchestral musician she has dealt intensely with historical performance practice and regularly performs on the viola d’amore as a soloist in concerts and in CD productions. Moreover, she is a member of the International Viola d'amore Society and gives lessons on the instrument.

As leader of the viola section for the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Sabine Fehlandt has enjoyed an active concert life both within Germany and abroad and has participated in many radio broadcasts and CD productions.

Most recently she has focused on improvisatory work with actors in Germany’s Prignitz region.
