Stephan Sieben studied viola in Düsseldorf with György Janzer of the Vegh Quartet and with Wolfram Gündel in Freiburg. Afterwards he worked as a violist with Het Brabants Orkest in Holland.
As a baroque violist, Stephan Sieben has regularly participated in projects with the Bach Collegium Japan and Les Boréades in Tokyo. In Germany, he has worked with the Freiburger Barockorchester, Concerto Vocale and with Concerto Köln. Since 2002 he has been a member of the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin.
