Born in Germany’s Ruhr region in 1969, Ute Hartewich studied baroque trumpet with Friedmann Immer at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Köln, Juhani Listo at the Sibelius Akatemia in Helsinki and Edward H. Tarr at the Schola Cantorum Basilensis.

Since 1999 she has been teaching baroque trumpet at the University for Music and Theater Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy in Leipzig and, since 2009, at the Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg. A long-time member and solo trumpeter of the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Ute Hartewich also performs and records regularly as a soloist with Cantus Cölln, Musica Antiqua Cologne, the Lauten Compagney Berlin, anima mea, Concerto Köln, the Kammerakademie Potsdam, Tafelmusik in Toronto, and Concerto Con Anima.
