Javier Aguilar Bruno studied at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin, the Berlin University of the Arts, and the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis under the guidance of Amandine Beyer.

A versatile chamber musician and violinist specializing in historical performance practice, he has been a member of the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin since 2026. He also regularly takes on leading roles and solo parts with ensembles such as the Lautten Compagney Berlin, Nuovo Aspetto, Concerto Foscari, Ensemble Wunderkammer, and Musica Sequenza.

Javier Aguilar Bruno is the recipient of several prizes at internationally renowned competitions. In 2020, he was awarded First Prize at the International Biagio Marini Competition; in 2022, he received First Prize at the York Early Music International Young Artists Competition. He won Second Prize at the International Berlin Bach Competition in 2021.

As a violinist and founder of the Protean Quartet, he is also a regular guest at early music festivals, including those in Utrecht and Saintes, as well as the Early Music Festival in Bogotá. The Protean Quartet’s debut album received international attention and was nominated for the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik in 2024.

He has received scholarships supporting his artistic development from the Fondazione Giorgio Cini in Venice, the Baroque ensemble Gli Incogniti, the Balthasar Neumann Ensemble, and the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation Berlin (Live Music Now).
