Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy
Elias
“Never has there been a more perfect triumph - never such a thoroughly spontaneous and immediate recognition of a masterpiece of art,” wrote The London Times in 1846, describing the enthusiastically celebrated world premiere of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy’s Elijah. With this groundbreaking oratorio, Hans‑Christoph Rademann began his tenure as chief conductor of the renowned RIAS Chamber Choir; with the same work, he took his leave in July 2015 after eight highly successful years together.
Together with RIAS Kammerchor, Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin and the soloists Marlis Petersen, Lioba Braun, Maximilian Schmitt, and Thomas Oliemans bring to life the dramatically effective as well as the intimate passages of Mendelssohn’s rich and colorful score.
Hans‑Christoph Rademann is regarded as one of the most sought‑after choral conductors and one of the world’s most highly respected specialists in choral sound. From 2007 to 2015, in his role as chief conductor, he consolidated and expanded both the repertoire and the reputation of RIAS Kammerchor, pursuing an uncompromising intellectual and emotional identification of the ensemble with the content of the works it performed:
“I want us not only to sound perfect, but to embody an attitude, to convey a message, and in doing so touch people all over the world.”
