Orfeo[s]: Italian & French Cantatas

with Sunhae Im

For her first solo recital on harmonia mundi, Sunhae Im has chosen four cantatas dedicated to the myth of Orpheus. The Greek poet, who at the end of the Quattrocento played a decisive role in the birth of modern tragedy and, a century later, that of opera, also inspired late Baroque composers such as Alessandro Scarlatti and Giovanni Battista Pergolesi in Italy, as well as Clérambault and Rameau in France.

»The playing, mostly one-to-a-part, is exquisite; so is the singing.«

Gramophone

» a lovely performance…a fine recording as well«
